Ramadan Mubarak

“Recognizing Ramadan at Orcades Marine demonstrates a commitment to diversity and respect for cultural differences.

We believe this can be achieved through various means, such as offering flexible work hours to accommodate fasting schedules and arranging informational sessions to help other cultures understand the significance of Ramadan.

By recognizing Ramadan, companies help strengthen employees’ morale and foster a sense of belonging among all team members.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and the holy month of fasting. It begins and ends with the appearance of the crescent moon. The calendar is shorter than the Gregorian calendar, which means Ramadan begins 10-12 days earlier each year, allowing it to fall in every season over a 33-year cycle.

After sunset, people gather to break their fast with a meal, which is often shared with friends and extended family.

The end of Ramadan is celebrated on Eid al-Fitr when new clothes are worn, special pastries are baked, and gifts are exchanged between family, friends, and neighbours.”
