Richard has over 10 years’ experience in the offshore industry working up from General Assistant at Flotta Oil Terminal to a Rigger offshore in the North Sea, where he was a part of the core maintenance team. Richard has transferred his skillset from the offshore industry to the marine industry in the past 12 months, assisting Orcades Marine in offshore projects particularly with the maintenance of offshore renewable energy devices and vessels. Since the beginning of 2020 Richard has undergone ongoing maintenance onboard a Wave Energy Convertor which was alongside awaiting towage to a different location for deployment. Richard has also been a crucial member of a two man maintenance team who are looking after three vessels that are in cold lay up in Scapa Flow, Orkney, two of which are anchored within the enclosed harbour area. Richard has completed all basic STCW training so he can assist as crew during crew transfers to these vessels. Richard is currently undertaking training through Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEAA) and when completed will be conducting lifting equipment inspections as a qualified lifting engineer and member of LEEA.
