Welcome to our revamped website!

The website has had a revamp and it looks great! We worked with Marwick Marketing to deliver a fresh and modern look with improved usability to our website. Since the last post in September 2019, a number of activities or events had occurred, and this is the perfect time to provide everyone with an update.

Orcades Marine was awarded the ballast water management contract with the Orkney Islands Council Marine Services for the next 3 years.

The OIC ballast water management policy aims to minimise the potential for pollution resulting from oil, chemical, heavy metals and transfer of non-native aquatic organisms and pathogens which may be contained within the ships ballast water. This is to provide protection for the important marine environment and the rich natural biodiversity within Scapa Flow.

Orcades Marine joins IMarEst as a Marine Member unlocking networking and professional development opportunities.

The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology is an international professional body, whose purpose is to work within the global marine community to promote the scientific development of marine engineering, science and technology. It provides opportunities for the exchange of ideas and practices at conferences and networking events. It serves to uphold the status, standards, and knowledge of marine professionals worldwide.

Orcades Marine is supporting TfL (Transport for London) during their transition into the in-house management of the Woolwich Ferry service.

The Woolwich ferry service links Woolwich and North Woolwich and is a free service for cars, vans, lorries, and pedestrians.
